Lawrence County, KY
The link above is the WSAZ news report on how Lawrence County KY has raised their students' scores and college entrances. I know that utilizing a new approach to a snow day is only a part of it, but it IS a part of it.
Last year, Lawrence County was targeted by the state because of low performance scores. Even though they had a record number of snow days last year, their student performance was off the charts. Why? Who knows, but they did implement a set of "take home" lessons that allowed students to have an instructional day at home.
ReplyDeleteMy suspicion is that there is no one reason for the increase in student performance but that their version of "Flipped Learning" played a role in the gains.
