The adapter for changing HDMI into VGA with audio is made by Kanex. The model is ATV Pro. It is listed as $59.95 on the company website, but can be purchased elsewhere for less. Amazon currently has it for $37.18 as of this morning.

Thanks for spending your Friday evening with me. All of you are on the right track with your flipped classroom and I look forward to seeing the successes.

Sample Flipped Lesson for Math

Next year, I will be teaching 7th grade math. I was thinking about paring down a concept to a simple form. Next Generation Standards are available from West Virginia Department of Education so I decided to put together a sample of one lesson for you to peruse. I combined resources I created with some online pieces that students can access.

This lesson would be the use of mathematics for a real world situation. It ties directly into West Virginia Next Generation Standards.
Solve real-life and mathematical problems using numerical and algebraic expressions and equations.
M.7.EE.3

solve multi-step real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals), using tools strategically. Apply properties of operations to calculate with numbers in any form; convert between forms as appropriate; and assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies. For example: If a woman making $25 an hour gets a 10% raise, she will make an additional 1/10 of her salary an hour, or $2.50, for a new salary of $27.50. If you want to place a towel bar 9 3/4 inches long in the center of a door that is 27 1/2 inches wide, you will need to place the bar about 9 inches from each edge; this estimate can be used as a check on the exact computation.
